RE: [RC] [RC] Stupid Questions from a Saddle Buying Virgin - Mel CochranI had a saddle fitter come out and evaluate my paso mare before I really started riding her. She showed me all sorts of things to look for. In the end (luckily) both of my saddles fit my horse, one is a perfect fit (the ugly one, of course). She did ask me what brands I might consider in the future and told me what to look for and what to stay away from. You might want to go that route if there is a saddle fitter in your area. I know that the "standard" sizes can vary greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer. I hear that lots of people like the big horns. Have you tried one of them? They are more affordable. I can't comment on the treeless as I don't have one. My saddle fitter told me that my mare was not a good candidate for treeless because of her prominent spine and my heavyweight status.
