RE: [RC] Gaiting (videos included) - Chastain, Shannon L.My Arab (12yrs) has started do a "his thing" too since I finally found a saddle that fits him. Next time we go out I am going to GPS him to see just how fast it is. My other Arab has to trot to keep up, it feels like a very fast walk so maybe he is doing the same. I have never seen him do a running walk in his pasture. So maybe it is just a nice Arab extended walk. No gaited horses anywhere in his pedegree. When he was young, he would do this "thing" near the end of a ride, when he started getting tired. I guess he liked it. He is 12 now and can keep up with my daughters arabians trot. Several farriers, vets, and video later, he does the twh running walk. He has a big 4 cornered trot that will teach you to post in a hurry. But he does "his thing" in the pasture and under saddle. I bought him at 6yo, and by chance we got a lot of snow that winter so we had to walk the whole winter. I spent the time teaching him to walk faster to keep up with his riding buddy, a much taller horse.
