Re: [RC] need help selecting a new girth - Steven ProeHi Folks; When you clean your girths you may wish to use Downy fabric softener as a treatment that will soften most fabrics, including nylon making it very soft and pliable.
You will need to let the girth or other tack soak for about 15 minutes and be generous with the Downy.
It may save some from having to buy new tack and provide for a more comfortable mount.
Just what I have done along with neoprene.

The one I have has neoprene behind the buckles. They also make one with a leather backing on the buckles. These are short girths, and will fit a dressage saddle just fine. I like them because, so far, I have never had a rub with them. Part of that might be where the girth sits on my fellow -- his girth line is nicely back from his elbows. I think they are cooler than the full neoprene girths. Since they are string girths, there is more room for air circulation. The only downside is that they do not have elastic inserts, if you like to ride with that type of girth. On Jun 15, 2007, at 6:58 AM, Sheila A.
