[RC] OD Dove Tribute to Maggie Price - rides2farFor those who remembered Maggie Price's final desire for an OD dove release tribute -- a tribute which has now become an OD tradition for those who> were instrumental to the OD ride, and the sport of endurance -- you'll be> delighted to know she got her wish. And when I tell you that she got> *exactly* what she'd wished for, I'm not kidding. The reason the buzzards were cheered was that Stagg had told us that Maggie had made the joke that they'd have to have a buzzard release at *her* tribute. It was a beautiful ceremony and I appreciate Flora describing it so well. I kept wanting to write about it yesterday and never had the patience to do it right...just kept going back to bed. I sent a lot more photos to John last night. The one of the wicker basket, if you look close, you'll see the doves leaving the other side. I had another that showed them better, but they were beautifully sillouetted as they flew out with a backdrop of 6 Porto-Potties and it took away from the moment...Maggie probably would have laughed though. The doves went up and did huge circles in a tight formation. Someone said they were getting their bearings. I said, "Looks like they're searching for markers". Then one dove moved to the front and someone said, "They've chosen a leader" and someone else said, "THAT would be Maggie!" They made huge circles around the valley and then finally, you just realized, they were gone.
