Re: [RC] [RC] Gassy colic (Angie) - rides2farSeriously, I do what Dawn does. Even though it may be uncomfortable to move, movement is about the best thing for gas colic We did the "belly lifts" (I hope I'm remembering this right) that Lynda Tellington Jones used to suggest. Bill & I locked arms under his belly and would practically pick up his rear end. He would grunt, but he felt so bloated and walking up and down the hill (it's steep) didn't seem to be helping that much. I forgot to mention he'd had several bowel movements but it was loose and small amounts, very untypical for him. He was not passing gas, after the first...*faintest* gut sounds, the next ones that finally showed up after all that total silence were very gassy sounding. The "Pea landing in an empty jug", big ones that you could hear burst and he would flinch. After he improved and got up Josie was keeping the stethoscope on him and just before she would tell me she heard one I could see his nostrils wrinkle up in pain just before it burst. By the way, when I said I gave him bute that was a typo. I meant we gave him the 2nd dose of paste Banamine. I don't keep injectable because it sits around for years and years unused, then I'm afraid to stick something that old in them.
