[RC] bears in cool..info - Kathie FordHi All, just wanted to let those know that mightstill be interested or wondering..I had gotten some additional information which would explain why rangers didn't know about the bears last week.Apparently the first phone call went to the sheriff first, then to Fish and Game not the park rangers. That is why they had no information when people were inquiring about them. The reason the sheriff and F&G were called in the first place was due to the fact that one of the bears as I mentioned was disoriented, their relative size (both around 500lbs), wouldn't move off trail (unsafe passing) and the fact that the trails were extremely heavy w/traffic last Sunday...ie, hikers, riders, bikers and many families w/small children which actually was the real concern. We know wildlife is in here and accept that. But the parties involved in contacting the various agencies were duly concerned for some of the public's safety, as well as concern for the bear that "might have had a hangover!!"" Anyway, hope that clears things up a little bit and sorry I didn't have all the info when I posted in the first place. Just was "heads up" anyway for safety's sake. take care and happy riding, cheers, kathie _________________________________________________________________ Don?t miss your chance to WIN $10,000 and other great prizes from Microsoft Office Live http://clk.atdmt.com/MRT/go/aub0540003042mrt/direct/01/ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
