Did they use that policy on the 30 miler?  If so, the results:
> 45 started, 18 finished, almost all within the last few minutes

may be badly skewed and not indicative of the true completion rate.  It 
is one thing to DQ a horse that is so borderline that it fails to vet on 
its 2nd presentation TO THE VET.  It is insane to DQ a horse, a VERY BIG 
penalty, because a Timer might need glasses.  Can ANYONE give a good 
reason for that rule which couldn't be addressed in a different and less 
crushing fashion?
