Re: [RC] Was Wow - OD markings!, now observations of a newbienon-horsey crew - Sharon LevasseurAngie, Sounds like a great cartoon for a future book. ;-) By the way, since I've got your attention, I had a completely non-horsey friend crew for me last weekend. The WHOLE REASON she agreed to go is because I lent her your book 2 weeks ago and she was in such hysterics that she was CRYING. CRYING I TELL YOU! She said she didn't know many of the technical terms, you know like GELDING, but she didn't need to in order to enjoy it. Anyway, the point is, she enjoyed the book so much that she agreed to crew for me at the 50-miler in Vermont last weekend. The whole weekend, one of us would see something, or hear something, and we'd just look at each other and say "it's just like in Angie's book!" What really got her laughing is that after a while she realized that it's a required finish-line tradition to get off the horse, hand it to whatever person might be standing within 10 feet (even a 3yo child, or a post that somewhat resembles a human will do in a pinch), and lay down on the nearest patch of grass for a good minute or so. In my case, I *think* I held off until after the trot-out... but I actually can't remember. She said after the horses vetted out, she also noticed a lot of people laying around on the ground, flat out, maybe an eye open and maybe not, holding onto the tippy-end of the lead rope as a horse grazed around them. Yeah, I did that. www.zegifts.com/Stories4.htm#jmm50 Happy trails! -Sharon L. Quoting "rides2far@xxxxxxxx" <rides2far@xxxxxxxx>: I commented on that too. She said it was a turn. One amusing photo has a guy asking her, "Do we turn here?"
