your question brought to mind the 3 month stay Steph and I had in Argentina leading up the the 2005 Pan American Championship. In particular:

I think all the above ar Criollo, though not specifically being used for endurance. But the breed is selected for endurance distances and is used extensively in working environments where endurance is key.
