[RC] Bit rubs - need advice - Julie Fuller

Rhonda,

Just a thought, but have you tried tightening the curb strap so the bit doesn't move so much?

I had a mare with very sensitive skin, and a tiny, tiny muzzle and it was hard to get everything to fit her right so that nothing rubbed. I finally went with a pony sized Sliester Hackamore with a leather covered gel curb strap which was cut down, then electrical taped to keep it from shifting.

With a tighter chin strap (I call it power steering) you have to be light handed. But if the rubs are from the bit purchase (the part above the mouthpiece where the headstall attaches) a tighter chin strap will help a lot.

Julie
