RE: [RC] [RC] bit alternatives - Ranelle RubinMoriah,I have ridden many horses in the Arab S-hack successfully. I now am back to riding my current mount in a Myler comfort snaffle (Level One Independent side motion) in order to train him to collect and work off his rear end. I was having trouble doing this in a hack. I had plenty of brakes, but he seemed to always have his nose in the air. The bit has worked very well to get him in frame, neck well arched, back up, and working his rear end well. I will likely switch back to the hack at some point in the future, and maybe half way through a ride. I have seen alot of folks using side pulls, some with great success, and others pretty much out of control. I think it just depends on the maturity, training level, and temperament of the horse. Just be careful about starting a ride with a sidepull unless you have done ALOT of training in groups as your horse will be a different animal at the start of a ride.
