Re: [RC] Reactive Attachement Disorder - rides2farOne of the things that comes to mind with the type of behavior that has been portrayed by this rider is that she is not a spoiled brat but instead is a RAD (Reactive Attachment Disorder). Well, I don't know this person, but I observed her social skills a few years back while reading my daughter's "Junior Riders" list over her shoulder and they haven't changed much. I am a teacher and have the opportunity to watch lots of kids in social settings, *and* get to know their parents at the ballgames and see where they learned their behaviors. In my experience when I see a kid who seems to just thrive on making people dislike them they have mistakenly come to believe that "If people don't like you it's just because they are *jealous* of you and your success". (maybe that's how their parents comforted them the first time they got their feelings hurt) They speak about their "accomplishments" at all the wrong times while the other kids roll their eyes and exclude them from any social groups because they are obnoxious. This reinforces their belief that "they're just jealous because I'm sooo great". It's a viscious circle...we refer to it as "Socially Retarded".
