[RC] Horse Identification - Tx Trigger

At the TX Bluebonnet ride, a horse and rider parted ways. I found the horse Sunday night, and its biothane bride was gone. Broke or rubbed off. I think ID tags on the bridles are great, and maybe if her bridle was ever found by a hunter, she might get it back <grin>, but at rides, and when traveling with the horse, I braid a dog tag ID into his mane. Yes, he could catch the braid, and yank it out of his neck, but not as easy as the bridle coming off.  Having it in the mane when I travel makes me feel a tad better when I unload while on the road, in case he were to get away.

Yesterday I spent some time taking very detailed photos of my horse. He is bay with a star and snip. Pretty common. But he has some things that make him unique, so I photographed them. Scars, swirls on head, detail of star and snip. I'll print them out, and put them in my file I carry with my coggins etc. I was also told once, to have a photo taken with you IN the photo with your horse, just in case the horse matches a description of a missing horse, you can show them the photo, and that you and the horse have been together awhile. (print it some place that dates the back of the photos).

Here is a photo of the tag in the mane. I have it on a piece of ribbon, that braids into the mane for security. I put the tag at the top, to prevent bounce and jingle
