Barbara, I used a set of Amish Buggy Shoes in
the GAHR and put them on in Millersburg, Ohio and pulled the fronts at the Utah
state line. It was a cost of 30$ a set while the farriars on the ride was
$40 so i saved a lot of money considering i was going thru a set every week or
so and i didn't have very much money to lose. I took it as a leap of faith
because i saw these Amish Buggy Horses trotting down the roads and thought, why
not try it? The Vets took photos and said i was going to lame my horse
because of the 5 3/8" cleats on each shoe, 3 at the toe and 1 each at the
heel.
Something that has stayed in my mind that i never
forgot was the product they said they used that unlike borium had some give and
had a softer sound when it hit pavement than borium. The product they used
was 'studite'. I still have the shoes and the receipt from Mr. Miller in
my GAHR momento collection.
