Re: [RC] Problem with my horse - Sheri ThompsonThe natural glo (rice bran) and beet pulp are to keep the weight on while doing endurance (which of course I am not doing since this has been going on). I cut back the alfalfa and feed more grass (bermuda/orchard grass) since alfalfa is not the best thing for our horses anyway (but she gets more then 2 1/2- 4 flakes of hay per day - always has hay all day) and feed the rice bran and beet pulp to keep the weight on, this is a common combination for an endurance horse. The neighlox is to help coat the stomach (like tums), Cosequin is a very small amount and is for joints and Strongid C2X is a very small amount (a daily wormer which I only feed in the spring) and the Vitamin E and Selenium is to help prevent tie up because she is a mare and has tied up before (when someone told me to feed grain - which, of course, I don't feed anymore). I don't think I am feeding to many supplements, at least not more then a lot of endurance riders are feeding their horses.I don't know if any of this explains the excessive drinking and peeing and craving minerals...but maybe.
