[RC] Trimming Easyboot Epics - Kristi SchaafKaren - I cut the heel strap off (or take it completely out and use tapers), and I think lots of other people do that also. I sure like that I don't have to worry if it's trapped under my horse's hoof (since you can't see it because of the gaiter). I don't think I'd trim the back of the boot down (the heel 'bulb' part) as that seems to play a role in keeping the gaiter stable and in place and helps keep junk out.... Kristi ____________________ I'm getting ready to experiment with Epics for my horse. There is tons of great information written by Karen on easycares site. What I'm trying to determine is if I should trim the back of the boot/heel strap as suggested in Karen's directions, or if that is only necessary for standard easy boots without the gaitor. I can't determine if the trimming is recommended just to decrease the risk of the horse pulling a boot (which would be negated by the gaitor that covers that same area), or also to reduce the chance of rubbing. Life's a journey, so enjoy the ride (and try not to fall off) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
