Re: [RC] Why I watch horse jumping - rides2far@xxxxxxxxDo people learn anything about technique of endurance riders ad improving their own by "watching" the up to date reporting of endurancerides? It's not easy, but I think even studying the top 10's ride cards when I did an article for the Chronicle I learned stuff. Some top riders say they "start slow" and get faster. Sometimes I see people who hear that go out and start at "what is slow for *them*" which has very little to do with what was "slow" for that front runner. They think they're doing the same thing and don't understand why they end up running out of time, but if they'd look at the *times* they'd know they're not doing what that person described at all. Even seeing someone running out front the first half of the ride and then seeing them pulled or finishing way back tells you something...or at least gives you hints of trends to store in your mind. When you're in a ride you only see your own ride and it's hard to learn from faster people if you never see them or know what they do. Just seeing the win time doesn't tell you much about how they paced. I was hoping riders could see the results, then go look at the bios and learn a bit about how that person & horse did things and learn from the combination.
