[RC] Why I watch horse jumping - k s swigartChrystal said: Why do people watch hockey? Horse jumping??????????? Well, I watch horse jumping for two reasons. I love the pure athleticism of the horses and consider it beautiful to watch. And I watch it to see the technique of the riders so I can improve my own jumping skills. Neither of these things require that I either care about the results or care when I get to watch the event. I have tapes of the 1992 Olympics that I still go back and watch. When I was a competitive skier, I watched ski racing for the same reasons...but mostly to watch the technique of expert skiers. The outcome of the ski races was irrelevant except with respect to how it correlated with the technique of each of the skiers. And, in fact, from a technique analysis standpoint it was better to know the outcome BEFORE watching it, so you would know in advance which of the skiers to watch the most closely because they either won...or didn't. Do people learn anything about technique of endurance riders ad improving their own by "watching" the up to date reporting of endurance rides? kat Orange County, Calif. :) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
