re: getting info out during a ride (and other things):
1) some events can do it more smoothly b/c the ride managers are willing/able to produce the "ride status" for us. That helps greatly and removes the need to ferret out ride info ... it (the good intentions) often fall apart later in the ride but it's evolving in the right direction.?
2) The little experiment with making pod casts out of bill's cell calls is setting the stage for anyone with a cell phone calling a (pre-published) phone number and having that automatically showing up on the coverage web site.? I think that will work and should be a stepping stone towards dynamic publishing of images (and possibly short video) as well. Of course, it means that cell coverage becomes more of enabling issue.? Last year at OD, Tom Sites did a great job of keeping us up2date and I'm hoping that will happen again this year, with the added benefit of all of us enjoying the color commentary delivered in a pleasing southern cadence.
3) re: the bios - Angie's self motivated initiation of the BiltmoreBios is moving us forward to a community publishing model where any of you can add to the global enduranceWiki. More on that later, but I'll soon (with steph's permissions:) be posting a pointer to a place where you can enter/publish info about riders/horses/rides/training etc. and it will show up in a way which will be?similar to what Angie did with the BiltmoreBios (w/o overburdening any of us with editorial/publishing work).
Endurance.Net is one of the oldest creatures on the net (one of the first 1000 www sites which existed) There is an overwhelming amount of information on the server which we're trying to mutate into a more reasonable structure. Of course, with Merri out there roaming the world leaving a trail of endurance bits - it's hard to keep up (Merri, a very large black raven just flew by the Oreana window (http://www.endurance.net/oreana/ridecamp for the webcam) - we're looking forward to your arrival in the Owyhee country to cover the upcoming Owyhee 100 and Rangelands rides - Quicksilver should be ready for you!!:)
anyway, just wanted to let you all know that Steph has great plans re: projecting endurance to the world from the world -- we're heading to town today for a bit of high speed net access and some heavy planning sessions:)

The bios for Biltmore were a great idea, maybe one day you will have more help or people will take this idea and run with it themselves,?
