Re: [RC] Hoof Boots :) - Lysane CreeHi Kyle, Well, there have been (and still are) lots of debates (here on ridecamp and elsewhere) about whether using shoes, using boots, or going barefoot is best and why, but the bottom line is, you have to do what is best for your horse. Most people that pull shoes with the intent of going barefoot will need boots to help their horse transition from shoes to barefoot. Some continue to use the boots on a regular basis and others will ride their horses barefoot where they can and use boots only occasionally. Yes, the boots do protect the whole hoof, but it does happen that some horses just don't do well in boots. Like most things, the boots are not perfect and they can cause rubs, change your horse's way of going (i.e. interferes only when wearing boots) or fall off while your riding, but alot of this is related to proper fit. The boots do
take some practice, making sure you have the right fit. But they are convenient for being to put them on when your horse needs hoof protection and leave them off when he doesn't. Karen Chaton's webpage and blog (see the easycareinc.com website) is a good place to start and gets lots of information. You may also want to consider Hoof Armor (hoofarmor.com). They have a quicker-drying formula now and it does protect the hoof when properly applied (have to clean the hoof really well). Lysane Thekids18049@xxxxxxx wrote:
