[RC] Rapid Pulse Recovery Flaw - Don HustonI hear the reasoning of a buddied-up horse and the "new to the sport" horse but isn't it possible that those very horses should be slowed down. The lesser conditioned buddied-up horse can be pulled along by its stronger buddy and over ridden. The excited newbie should definitely be slowed down until he "gets it" so to speak. The mare in heat and stallion thing I don't know but if they are seasoned campaigners maybe they will be fine and if not maybe they fall in the newbie category and should be slowed down until they "get it".It appears that the rule would not prevent the rider from continuing on at a fast pace for training purposes. It would just remove the points and Top Ten prestige from the riders ego and help them concentrate on the conditioning of their horse for next time. Allowing the vets to take into consideration "mitigating" circumstances won't work. Just because a horse is clearly influenced by a "mitigating" circumstance doesn't mean he isn't ALSO about to be in metabolic trouble. There is just no way to tell.
