Re: [RC] 30 minute rule - Truman PrevattAngie is 110% right one the nose with this post. Better save this Angie - I may come to my senses ;-) ! I've done rides in all but three regions (SW, PS and W). I plan on fixing this year going out to Ft. Stanton - at least that's the plan. There are different requirements for different regions. Some is based on terrain and climate. Some is tradition. The AERC is a national organization. The US is a big country. I'd rather see a minimal set of rules at the AERC level and let the locals adapt to the unique characteristics of their ride. The AERC should have a set of rules that insure basic safety of the horse and fairness of the rides. The AERC should not micromanage rides. They should not pass rules that dictate a ride manager must either not run a ride or have an unsafe finish line to meet an AERC rule.As far as I can see the "30 minute rule" for endurance is a pretty boneheaded ill advised change (if you want to know how I really feel - ask me privately ;-) ). The one hour gives ride mangers latitude to have safe finish lines. It gives ride managers in some cases the ability to run rides. The one hour rule has been around a long time. It works well. Why change it? Truman rides2far@xxxxxxxx wrote: AFAIK, that's an FEI style vet check, Angie. -- “He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster.
