Re: [RC] 30 Min rule - Barbara McCraryI had a horse once that gradually declined in performance, despite everything I could do to help. He arrived at the 69-mile point VC of a 100-miler with purple-tinged gums. The vet pointed this out to me, said it was caused by poor circulation, and I immediately pulled him. I had him blood-tested, gave him blood-builders and no one was ever able to get to the root of the problem. I finally sold him for a pasture ornament. He had, in his earlier career, done fairly well...not a great winner, but decent performance. As he became a couple of years older, he started having metabolic problems that no vet could identify. So...I should have been punished????Barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mcgann, Barbara" <BarbMcGann@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "Jim Holland" <lanconn@xxxxxxx>; "Bruce Weary DC" <bweary@xxxxxxxxxxxx>; <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, January 08, 2007 4:10 PM Subject: RE: [RC] 30 Min rule Jim, You wrote: As in a court of law, or in an "inquiry committee" (this is already a part of AERC), we have the ability to handle situations such as Barb's where there are mitigating circumstances. At the time, though, I'm sure that many fellow endurance riders just thought I was an idiot or worse. You also say: Why don't you do this....ask Mike Maul write a little program that will list each AERC member along with their number of metabolic pulls? That shouldn't be difficult. You MIGHT learn something interesting....and maybe useful.
