Re: [RC] Arabian Saddle Compay - Laney HumphreyI had an Andy Foster saddle once but sold the horse so eventually sold the saddle. I'm wondering though, if a competent saddler could reflock it and make it fit the horse you have now. Admittedly there are very few people in this country who can do that, but depending on where you live, maybe there is one. But, if the tree really is too narrow there probably isn't anything that can be done.Mary Ann, if you're reading this, a saddle with a tree that's too narrow is like a wearing an A width shoe when our foot is really a B width. No saddle pad will fix the problem because the pad is just more "stuff" being put in a space already too small. Laney Beth Walker wrote: Dry spots indicate too much pressure. They are located right behind the shoulders. I'm pretty sure that this problem is from a too narrow tree -- the saddle was made for my old horse, who had higher, narrower withers, and nothing is going to fix that except for a new saddle. This spring, when he started to shed out, he began showing white hairs -- not a lot, just a little roaning. However, the roaning is exactly where the dry spots were. I tried lots of different pads with that saddle, and nothing fixed the dry spots. In the meantime, I'm using my Specialized, which fits better. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
