FW: [RC] [RC] " when Lakota did his "Exit, stage left!" maneuver" - Mike Sherrell

I'm probably making a sloppy or incorrect reference. I was thinking about
the old, primitive part of the brain that reacts before the nerve impulses
reach the conscious brain.

After about 50 violent shies, you may have the muscle memory to stay on
reflexively. Even at age 10, after several thousand miles, Traveller shies a
lot still, and the last time he overwhelmed my reptilian brain's reaction
time was about a year and a half ago at a gallop. Nowadays all I do is lose
a stirrup, knock on wood.

I have heard it said that most horses have a "right handed" mentality, and
therefore will often spook to the left to offer their "best side". I
certainly have had that experience myself..

Interesting that you should comment that way. Seems that is direction I
have always had to deal with, especially with the most 'exotic' dismounts.
Anyone have experience going more one way or the other? ie right or left

That horse is the one I used the Aussie saddle on and it did make a
difference. I am riding in a Passier dressage saddle now and have a deep
seat but not like the aussie. I no longer have that horse for more reasons
that the sudden left hand exits.
