The generic Listerine solution to Cowboy Magic put me into 
a mind to seek out cheap solutions, as I am anticipating a 
downsize in my financial health in the next 10 months.  I 
have recently made, perhaps foolishly, the move from one to 
three horses, and I'm on the prowl for good, cheap ideas.  

In the Mennonite spirit of "More with Less" and "Live More 
Simply so Others Can Simply Live" I would like to start a 
file of cheaper alternatives to Name Brand products.  I am 
trying to hunt up my stable's recipe for fly-spray (using 
citronella, I think) and make it available to anyone who is 
interested.  If anyone knows of a website that already has 
this kinda thing, I'd be greatful for the info. 

This endeavor reminds me of the best-remembered story of my 
frugal, Mennonite Great Grandpa, who showed up at the local 
junk shop asking for nails.  When he was directed to the 
barrels full of spanking-new nails, he clarified, "bent 
ones."  The natural question was, "Franklin, what on Earth 
do you intend to do with a keg-ful of bent nails?" The reply 
was, "I have five boys at home and its raining outside."

Any favorite cost-saver would be welcome; cheap skate family 
stories are optional.  If anyone wants a copy of what I 
compile, lemme know.  This little project will be a welcome 
activity just now because I lost one of my dogs to an 
accident yesterday, I'm sick of grading final exam essays, 
its raining outside, and here I sit fresh out of bent 
nails.  (Dick and Mel, if you read this, don't worry 
it wasn't Grendle, and see you at The Madness.)
