RE: [RC] [RC] Saddles for narrow arab - Ranelle RubinAnita,If you have the option to ride the Bighorn before you buy it, you may want to do that. I have one in my garage I need to sell because it did not fit my narrow mare. It slid right over her shoulders unless I had a very tight crupper! I use a crupper most of the time, but it only engages on steep downhills, not every little dip in the trail. It may be out of your pricerange, but have you considered treeless? I personally love my FreeForm saddles (one is on my VERY wide Arab, and one is on my VERY narrow Arab..both fit great and stay put. Many miles on both horses..all is well. I have seen them used on occasion for around $1k. If you can't swing a new one, watch endurance.net and ebay. A new one will run you around $1700.-$1800.00 or so by the time you get a HAF pad, stirrups, girth, etc. A Wintec might be an option. I rode in those years ago and they seemed to fit a wide range of horses. I still see people ride in them alot. I know there used to be a saddle called a Thoroughgood that had an allen wrench crank on the pommel so you could widen and narrow the tree. I imagine they still make them? Both of these are English twist and pretty inexpensive. My suggestion is a used FreeForm if cost is a major factor.
