[RC] re: first 100 miler - Cindy CollinsKyle: No one can tell you whether or not your horse is ready, BUT I suggest you put more weight in experienced endurance riders' (look up their records on AERC site) opinions. A horse that's been doing 50s successfully "should" be able to do a 100 miler. I have successfully completed 100 milers as a horse's first ever endurance ride and as their second ride (after 1 50 miler). These horses went on to have successful careers with no problems. Hate to say "in the old days" cause there's so much disdain for those of us who started 25+ years ago, BUT many horses back then started with 100 milers cause that's all there was. Sounds like your horse has a good base, but you know the horse better than anyone else. Good luck!
