Re: [RC] [RC] Questions For Trainers - Ranelle RubinIf you are talking about an Arab, beware the trainer who "routinely" uses spurs. Very few Arabs ever need spurs!I rescued a mare who was almost ruined by a trainer who used spurs on her and had her all "bunched up" with spurs and then a nasty bit to keep her from jumping forward. I had seen this #@&*-hole ride this mare at a popular trailhead, then a year later heard she was headed to the auction because her owner had been dumped a few times and was scared of her. Fortunately for me (and the mare), a lady who posts on her all the time, Kathy Sherman, went to look at a saddle the lady had for sale, saw the mare and passed on the info to me. She is most loving, sweet mare now..but it took awhile to earn her trust, and you still can't drop your stirrups while astride.
