I usually choose the high one because it seemed like he'd be hitting harder on the low one. Once I did a ride where we went around a 10 mile lake with a trail that sloped towards the lake, clockwise for the 2nd loop. Then for the 3rd we did the same trail counterclockwise. The timer mentioned to me that every horse that got pulled for lameness the 2nd loop was RF lame. The third loop it was LF...both times the low leg. I had posted the high diagonal rather than change regularly as usual and didn't have a problem. One rat study but I was thinking about it again this weekend when we had to trot along a slope.
