I saw one crush around a horse's leg that got a hind foot through the 
stirrup.  Luckily once the saddle was removed he stood like a rock while the 
stirrup was unbolted and removed.
That was the second time I witnessed the hind leg through the stirrup trick. 
 The first time the stirrup was not crushed and the hoof was slid right 
out.
