RE: Subject: Re: [RC] [RC] natural horse wormers? - heidi
Don't make the mistake of lumping vaccines and dewormers into the same
category. Horses that have been vaccinated in the past may well have adequate titers for much, much longer than the recommended vaccination protocols would lead one to believe. Also, you can do much more to avoid exposure to disease than you can to avoid exposure to worms.
Additionally, vaccines are products which CAUSE an immune reaction in
the animal on purpose--and sometimes that is more than some individuals can tolerate.
Most "reactions" to dewormers are due to the "chemicals" that the dying
worms produce--so unless a horse has a specific allergy to a specific dewormer, odds are that any "reaction" happens because the horse was so loaded that it was at high risk in the first place.

I've learned over the last several years that the older my mare becomes, the less tolerant of any chemicals/vaccinations. If I want a horse I can't ride because she is both lame and sick, I'll definitely vaccinate and consistently worm her. So, I use a product highly recommended, made by Mystic Horse: http://www.mystichorse.com/prod/floweressences2.htm I've used the Symbiotic blend for over a year now, and after two fecal tests, no parasites of any kind. I'll not worm this mare again unless we receive a positive reading on a fecal, but I'll never be able to vaccinate her again. So, holistic is the way for us! You do what you gotta do for the health of your horse. Note: The Mystic Horse Essences are similar to the Bach Remedies for people you find at your local health food store. I have found the Bach essences very effective for myself as well. Lisa Douglass Moss Rock Endurance www.mossrockendurance.com (719)439-2472
