FW: [RC] Trailer Floor Help Needed - Jim Holland

Hmmm?.I guess I?m obsessive and nutty?..(I don?t disagree) <grin>

Anyway, I do pull my mats every time?.immediately if possible.? They clean
easier when the poop/pee is fresh.? I just drag them out, rinse one side,
flip them and rinse the other, then hose out the trailer.? (It?s an aluminum
floor)? In spring and fall, I pressure wash the floor, ceiling and walls.
You can put the mats back in wet.? Water won?t hurt aluminum.

There are issues other than corrosion.? The poop attracts flies that breed
in it.? The urine makes the trailer smell bad and it?s not good for the
horses.

The floor of my 8 year old Silver Star looks as good as the day I bought it.
IMHO, the time is well spent.? A few minutes to do that is a lot less costly
than repairing floors.?

If you have wooden floors, be SURE to check them for rot.? As a TLAER
person, seeing the result of having a horse drop one or more feet through
the trailer floor while driving down the highway is not pretty.

On the other hand, mats are a pain in the butt?and heavy.? My Sundowner LQ
has W.E.R.M?.and I love it.? Pick up the poop, sweep it out, and rinse it
with a hose.? WONDERFUL stuff.

honestly!!)??

Not everyone, just?obsessive,?nutty people.?? I'm a rinser.??My horse pees
in the trailer consistently (all aluminum).?I have discovered that I can
fold the mats aside?to avoid pulling them.??Periodically I do pull the mats
and do a complete scrub. ?My trailer is a 1991 model, bought used, the floor
has some pitting but is very sturdy.? I also drilled some extra holes in the
floor, right up through the mats,?for drainage.? If I come into a bunch of
extra cash?I'll get WERM flooring, it sure is appealing when I'm wrestling
with the mats.?
