I"m sure that my older gelding had nothing but fun in mind when he lets himself out of his stall then walks up and down the barn isle and lets "only" his "friends" out too.  When he gets bored of this he will inspect the feed situation in the "empty" stalls and lock himself in the stall that has the most food and enjoy a second dinner while all his friends are running around getting into trouble
