They are easy to get on and off, but I do not think they will just come off the horse while riding because of how they affix to the hoof. I have not ridden in them long because my horse developed heel rubs (same with all the boots, from what I have read) and with a ride coming up, I didn't want to take the time to experiment with foam, tape, etc... so I had shoes put on my horse and will pull them after the ride and do the experimenting to eliminate the heel rubs.
