A friend loaned me some old AERC yearbooks and I
sat down with 1992 last night. It was kind of neat
to see riders and horses in there still active today.

There's a picture of Stagg Newmann and Drubin and,
oh my, he's built like a thug! (Drubin, that is, not
Stagg ;-)). I swear there's about two feet of space
between his front legs! :)

That year, Stagg won the Middleweight Division for
the West Region, with Bob Suhr coming 3rd, beating
out Julie (5th) (...actually, Julie was also 10th with
a different horse...). Bob was riding Zayante who at
the time had a mere 2575 miles (Z retired in 2005
with 13,200 - 251 starts with 241 finishes... Wow.)

One of the photos was of Cougars Clown with Sabine
Kennefic riding. Steve Shaw? d'you still have Clown
and how old is she now? I seemed to think she
retired from endurance but continued to be a Ride &
Tie horse? Steve and Cougars Clown went on to place
4th at Tevis 6 years later.

There's a funny article "written" by DR THunder Bask
who was 10 at the time and had already crammed more
into his career than most horses can dream of... In
1992 he had 6,985 miles... and went on to get 14,935
while still keeping up his busy stallion duties.
