Re: [RC] tall boots - Linda MiramsOn Mon, 26 Mar 2007 09:08:28 EDT, JANUSTUDIO wrote ...a dear friend...always wore the tall boots. On this ride we had to cross a deep stream/resavoir, water up to the horses backs...When we got across, she said, "boy I'm squishy" then raised her heel up the side of her horse and the water just poured out of the boot tops... I discovered why cavalry, huntsmen, and horsemen have worn tall boots since time immemorial when I was re-scouting old, abandoned, overgrown trails at Myles Standish State Forest in SE Massachusetts. I was wearing nothing but a pair of lightweight summer tights and sneakers. I absolutely *shredded* my tights and then my legs bulling through the overgrown pitch pine and scrub oak obscuring the trail. Along about the tenth time a branch scrapes that exposed cut just below your knee, you think of Puss 'n' Boots and say to yourself..."Ahhhhhh, *now* I get it!"
