[RC] electrolytes and all advice - Kerry GreearI have so appreciated the "opinions", anecdotal evidence and reference to scientific articles on this venue. But like any advice, we should "consider it" and continue to gather information (especially history on our horse!) in order to make good decisions. There is a lot of good data on the difference between "novice and expert" thinking. In nursing, we utilize this to help build curriculum and clinical experiences for students. I so worry that new endurance riders will "take advice" such as the one poster who heard or read about a dose of electrolytes per mile??????????? and go with it. For general learning purposes, I believe riders new to endurance should focus on the good advice in the rider's manual, on the aerc web site, and their veterinarian along with their own common sense. We have so many experts who have done so well for so long with their horses and know how to care for them, that they may forget that there are a lot of novices out there who may misconstrue or take something as the gospel. We all, the experts and novices alike, as well the ones somewhere in the middle need to remember this. Forward Ho!!!!!!
