RE: [RC] [RC] Won't hurt? - Terry BanisterI have read that if the horse is eating and drinking sufficiently at the vet checks, their e-lytes are renewed in t the FOOD they are eating. Extreme humidity, speed or distance may require more, but a horse that is fit for the distance at hand to begin with, and eats and drinks at vet checks is rehydrating naturally. On long, humid rides, I have sprinkled small almounts of electrolyte powder over his food at the lunch check (after he has eaten and drank something already) and that is it. In our 1,800 miles, most rides have been done without additional elytes. It works for some!
