They both had to do with what I GAVE, not what I didn't give. Once it was too many probiotics, he got gassy and had a mild colic. The other time I gave non-endurance electrolytes and he got thumps. He probably wouldn't have gotten it if I'd given *no* electrolytes, but that kind sends them even farther into alkylosis. Little lameness pulls don't really stick out in my mind, but those two were big ones. The probiotics colic was at the 80 mile mark of a 100 that he was doing GREAT in and that cost me my 3rd 100 that year, which would have meant a "100 mile club" blanket from SERA. The other was at Biltmore and he was running 5th at the last vet check when he got thumps. So...yep, I've been burned and I'm careful about throwing stuff at them. Angie (still on Spring Break and it's going to hit 78 degrees today...poor hairy horse) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
