[RC] RC] Riding in Mountain Lion Country - Suzanne Boyd

Kat is absolutely correct, mountain lions are generally not a threat and most will retreat before you get more than a glimpse of them. I certainly don't want to start a Mountain Lion Panic, especially as I am in love with the big guys. I just think anyone who rides in country where cougar live should educate themselves about them, and what to do in the rare case of the attack. Cougars *are* becoming habitualized , as the cities sprawl into the widerness. You could ask Scott Lancaster about it, except he was killed by a 100# cougar while jogging in Boulder, CO. Staying on your horse, as Kat said, does stack the odds in your favor. (but we all know that doesn't always happen!!)

Just be aware, that's all.
Suzanne
