Re: [RC] Do gooders ,dogs...........grrrrr - Sisu West RanchDo also consider the Springfield Armory XD line of pistols. They are similar to the Glock, available in many sizes, the same weight etc. I personally think that they, having benefited by looking at Gaston Glock's designs, are better. The two most noticable differences are: 1. Conventionally rifled barrels. You can shoot lead bullets if you want. 2. A grip safety. Not a big deal, but last year a police officer was shot by his own Glock when the trigger snagged on his clothing during reholstering. Wendy and I have 3, and love them all. Again a pistol is a very personal choice. You are well advised to try a bunch before purchase. Smith and Wesson (now back under American ownership) also has the M&P line of pistols with polymer frames. I have never fired one, but they are highly regarded..
