I can slow down to give this horse the chance to get in shape, but this pony is a little Corvette and needs a chance to perform to her abilities when she is physically ready. I want her to last a long time, but I want to have a successful racing career with her too. Some folks'll go blow out a horse in one or two seasons... I don't want to do that, and hope that is not what it takes these days to win endurance races. THAT is a whole other issue...
