RE: [RC] EZ Knees for theis weekend ride - Mike LewisPaul, I understand your line of thinking here... but I'm still doing very conservative rides since my horse and I are both trying to recondition. We won't be riding the FITS fast at all--25 "easy" miles--with the objective of finishing the ride and getting some conditioning out of the deal. Trying new equipment that straightens things out for my ankle will probably ease the stress and make things more pleasant. What could go wrong!??! (famous last words, I know!) If we were riding this to have a competitive finish, I'd have reservations about last-minute changes. This ride is just a fun one to tack on some miles, gain conditioning, and enjoy some (at least 1 or 2) peaceful moments with my pony. That rule is : Never try anything new at a ride. Test it first at home during training. This applies to saddles, tack, clothing, medication, feed, shoes, horse boots , or anything else you would use at a ride. Ask Doctor Q about trying somebody elses potato salad before Tevis? It showed how months of training can be wiped out by something so trivial as different food.(and bad Mayo?) The EZ Knees may be the best thing you have ever done to help your riding. But try it at home first. It may also leave your leg in bloody blisters. Halfway through a ride you have worked so hard to get to, is not the place to discover something doesn't work for you.
