[RC] Progress - Bruce WearyHi Bob-- Good questions. Welcome to the "soup." Jump in, the water's fine. Again, as far as I know, and please correct me if I'm wrong, most of the rules already in existence weren't made based on statistical data. At least I'm not aware of such statistics. And I'm fairly sure there is plenty of anecdotal, if not statistical information available in the world of track racing that indicates the risk of injury is higher as fatigue sets in. I know that Tom Ivers referred to this frequently. There may be other stats out there that would support this logical assertion.Rule 6.2.1 may need to be revisited, or at least interpreted whether it applies to soundness issues, or cardiac recoveries, or both. I guess the Vet committee will need to address to wording of the revised rules so that they correlate. You mentioned in your post that the current rule is representative of a "long term philosophy." Are there any statistics in philosophy? Welcome to my world as I try to contribute in the world of horse welfare with so many wrinkles, opinions, and counter-intuitive information. Is it cold in Idaho? We got a little snow today in Arizona. Hope to see you at convention.
