Re: [RC] Angie - worthwhile discussion involving sitting trot - Truman PrevattPosting is more about proper technique than anything else. Posting is more about a consistent rhythm with the horse than anything else. Many years ago I went to a good trainer - ex Grand Prix eventer. She was teaching both myself and my horse to jump. What I came away with was an understanding of the proper balance of riding and a an effortless post. I have a few years on me - have a bum knee and a bum ankle on the other leg but can post for miles on end simply because it is the horse that is doing the work on the post - not me.Part of the posting equation is the horse. You need a horse you can synchronize with. You need a horse whose trot is a resonance for you. With proper technique and the proper horse - posting is almost effortless on the rider. The best place to learn these things if you don't know them is with a good instructor. Personally I prefer instructors that have eventing experience who have to use dressage to get the best out of their horses rather than someone who only does dressage - but a good dressage instructor that understands this concept will also work.
