[RC] pacemakers, anticoagulants... - terreBeverley Kane, MD said:If the issue is blood thinners, and the person wants to take the risk, make sure to get frequent blood tests for "clotting times" so that at least one is in therapeutic range and not bleed-to-death-shaving range. I know of hemophiliacs who go camping in the wilderness w/ IV clotting factors in their backpacks. I don't recommend this for everyone (or anyone, for that matter), but Kelvin Godin of Alberta completed the 100 mile FEI PAC at Mt Adams as part of a medal-winning team...and he is a haemophiliac. His riding IS 'life-threatening'--and painful--but he did it successfully anyway. terre =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
