[RC] re: pinworms - Nancy MittsI haven't tried that, but none of my reading indicates that anything kills the pinworm larvae (L1,2,&3) in the egg. I'm afraid if I do the purge and in 3 weeks she's still got the ones she's continued ingesting maturing, how much worming can a horse stand? All the wormers say they kill the adult stage (although the ivermectin didn't seem to, or zimectrin gold) & the daily parantel tartrate also gets L4 which is immature but out of the egg. I'm looking for the best protocol to kill them off as they mature, without damaging the horse, until the eggs in the pasture are no longer viable. If anyone has tried the purge for pinworms let me know how it worked, how long it lasted. From: "Cris Potmesil" <camelot@xxxxxxxxx>Have you tried the 5 day Panacur Powerpak purge? The drug class is Fenbendazole. You give a double-dose of Panacur for 5 days straight. Some vets recommend doing this in both the spring and fall. _________________________________________________________________ Dave vs. Carl: The Insignificant Championship Series. ?Who will win? http://clk.atdmt.com/MSN/go/msnnkwsp0070000001msn/direct/01/?href=http://davevscarl.spaces.live.com/?icid=T001MSN38C07001 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
