[RC] Newbie Question - rides2far, I have ridden quite a few that are built to move at a nice smooth sweeping jog that you could sit all day. That's the problem, you jog, you're out there all day! Give me a power trot. I'll hit a rhythm and I can ride it forever..but won't have to. We'll be finished in no time! :-)) I'll never forget the time we had some rather stuck up women head out for a ride with us. They did a *little* fox hunting & hunt seat (they were wannabes in both those areas so not a reflection of those people). We were going to do a 21 mile training ride up and around a mountain and I'd showed them a 5 mile out and back trail they could do and have a picnic and we'd meet them later. The women thought they should go with us but I didn't think they could keep up. One woman's TB hit a tiny little prancy jog as we walked to warm up and she looked down her nose at me and said, "he can trot like this ALL DAY". My horse was walking along beside him as he did it and I thought, "OK". After 15 min. of walking we took off at a 10-12 mph trot and had 3 good endurance horses kinda competing for speed. We went about a half mile, looked back and those women were nowhere in sight. We pulled up and waited and when they got there their eyes were huge. The woman who'd bragged to me looked shell shocked. She was all out of breath and panted..."Our horses are RUNNING, and your horses are TROTTING...WE CAN'T DO THIS!" It was priceless. >eg< Angie =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
