In the sport of endurance there are so many OPPORTUNITIES to face down something new.  The predicates can be distance, ambient weather conditions, speed, difficulty of trail conditions, region-specific footing, frequency of rides, and on and on.

NOT being considered a "newbie" should be the LEAST of concerns.

For me what really matters is learning how to MINIMIZE liability to the horse and rider and STILL getting the ride accomplished.  That particular evolution will fill a rider with all sorts of names to consider oneself...and if things go well, "being considered this or that" will take care of itself...not that that even matters.  It doesn't.

Endurance riders come in all flavors...and like eating a Tootsie Roll Pop....some will bite down and get through it and some will just lick it and lick it until it's done.
